Biology Scholars
Inquiry Based Learning Scholars
AIBL is a community of college math instructors, math teachers, and supporters of inquiry-based learning. Our philosophy is “big tent IBL.” What this means is that we define IBL broadly, and support the use of a wide range of empirically-validated teaching methods in mathematics courses consistent with courses where students are (a) deeply engaged in rich mathematical tasks, and (b) have ample opportunities to collaborate with peers (where collaboration is defined broadly).Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching
Scientific Teaching Fellows are individuals who have completed a Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching (SI). Scientific Teaching Mentors are SI alumni who return and help facilitate the training of future fellows. UCLA hosts a local Summer Institute, alternating offerings between A session and C session from year to year. So plan ahead if you’d like to participate — applications are typically accepted between January-April for the ensuing summer offering of the SI. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Scientific Teaching Fellow or Mentor, please contact CEILS at media@ceils.ucla.edu.
